The MakeUp Eraser review

I have another review for you! This time, we'll be talking about The MakeUp Eraser. For those of you who've never heard of it before, it's a small pink 'towel' which can remove your make with just water! According to the site:

The MakeUp Eraser removes 100% of your makeup with water only. Just wet the cloth and remove your makeup. This includes waterproof eyeliner and mascara, HD makeup and much more. The best part is…it’s reusable. Throw it in the wash and no stains remain. The MakeUp Eraser will last up to 1,000 washes and eliminates the need to buy disposable product to remove your makeup. The MakeUp Eraser cloth with a hand-sewn sateen edge that’s plush and soft to the touch. Treat yourself to a spa at home every day, while saving money!

I mean, how cool does that sound?? Not having to buy any makeup remover ever again will save you a lot of money! But does it really work? Let's find out!

The MakeUp Eraser has two sides, one to remove your makeup (of course) which you can see on the picture bellow, and one to gently scrub your face which is the side with the tag. It also claims to promote healthy skin.

In the picture above you can see the makeup look I did to test this out. I used :

  • L'Oréal true match foundation (accord parfait) rose Ivory and rosy vanilla mixed

  • Yves Rocher Velvet loose powder in transparence beige

  • Benefit Hoola bronzer

  • Estée Lauder pure color blush in 17 wild Sunset

  • Deborah Milano secrets of the smokey eye palette in Nude Beige

  • L'Oréal super Liner Ultra Precision in Brown

  • 2B Black Edition XXXL Waterproof Mascara, I used waterproof mascara so I could see if The MakeUp Eraser does remove waterproof makeup.

  • Sephora Collection Rouge Infusion Lip Stain in Red Essence on the lips

I decided to only remove the makeup on the left side of my face so we could compare how much makeup it has actually removed.

The 'routine' consists out of three steps:

  1. Wet. Use warm water to wet The MakeUp Eraser. Make sure it's drenched!

  2. Erase. Gently rub off makeup in a circular motion.

  3. Exfoliate. Flip the Eraser to exfoliate.

And here is the result! As you can tell it did a pretty good job on removing my make up! The lip stain came off so easily! And to my surprise, it took off the waterproof mascara as well! How weird, right? If you look very closely you can see the foundation came off too.

To make sure it took every little bit of makeup off my face I went over it again with my regular makeup remover. Unfortunately, The MakeUp Eraser did not take off everything since I could still see some foundation and mascara on my cotton swab. Also, I find it pulls on my skin quite a lot which I don't really like since it can cause premature wrinkles. But, other than that, I think it did a great job!

After I removed all of my makeup I decided to try out the Exfoliation side (the side with the tag). It is VERY gentle, although I would not suggest doing it every single day. Even with the most gentle exfoliation products, there's a limit to how much scrubbing a face can take. So don't overdo it!

To end this post, here are my pro's and con's :

Pro's

  • It removed almost all my makeup, even the waterproof mascara.

  • You end up saving a lot of money

  • It's good for the environment

  • It's very travel-friendly

  • It's chemical free

Con's

  • It didn't remove every single bit of makeup, so you end up using makeup remover anyway

  • It pulls on the skin which can cause wrinkles

You can buy The MakeUp Eraser in Pink, Purple, Red, Black, White or baby blue at Sephora, the official site or for my Belgian readers, at Boozyshop for 20 dollars.

Hope you guys liked this review! Let me know if you'll try out The MakeUp Eraser and how it worked out!
