On our second day in the city of lights, we woke up at 7:30 AM. We chose to wake up at that same hour every day so we could do as much as possible without having to worry about time running out. The first thing we did was go to Basilique du Sacré-Cœur. I find this to be one of the most beautiful buildings in Paris because of its white walls. I really suggest going early since there will be much less other tourists. We took the steps and came past some guys who tried to sell us bracelets. DO NOT, I repeat, do not let them get to your arm!!! They will do anything to get to you, take your arm and wrap around three or four small threads. Literally not even worth a penny but they will charge you 20 euros (22 dollars) for it! And since you already let them put the threads around your arm, you have no choice but to pay. So be careful and don't let them fool you by saying it's tradition or something because it's NOT! We knew about this because I went to Paris before and we also saw it on tv.
When we arrived at the top of the Montmartre we saw an entrance to the top Dome of the Sacré-Cœur. You could go there for 6 euros. Since there was no waiting line at all we decided to give it a go. Once we finally arrived at the top, the view was just beautiful! I'm so happy we did that! Definitely something I will never forget! Fun fact: all the steps including the ones to the top Dome of the Sacré-Cœur counted a total of 522! Can you believe we did all those 522 steps?? Talking about a workout! When we headed down the line to go up the Dome was huge! That's one of the reasons you should go as early as possible so you don't have to waste you time waiting in line.
Next up was Galeries Lafayette, a HUGE and beautiful shopping mall with all the designer brands you can possibly think of. Keep in mind that there are two Galeries Lafayette, one at Boulevard Haussmann and a second one at Boulevard Montparnasse. We went to the first one since this is the main Galerie Lafayette and it's bigger than the second one. After a Little bit of shopping, we took the Metro to Palais de justice. From there we walked to the Notre Dame and waited in line to go inside. The line looked soooo long but we only had to wait about 10 minutes, so it was not too bad!
Pont Neuf was our next stop. As you might be able to tell by the pictures above, we hang our own little lock there!! I mean common, that's kind of romantic right? I loved it! We locked it in place, both gave a little kiss on the key and threw it in the Seine river. We didn't have our own lock with us, but I knew that there would be a guy at the bridge who sold those anyway. Problem solved! After locking our love at the bridge we got a bit hungry so we ate a Crèpe at a small park 20 meters away from Pont Neuf. You should definitely try the Nutella crèpes! They are DELICIOUS! You can find the little stalls where they sell them everywhere!
The last thing we wanted to see was Centre Pompidou since it was open till 9 PM. But when we arrived we realized their closing day is Tuesday. Bummer! We decided to go another day and relaxed a bit at the beautiful fountains next to it.
Our very last stop was at Camille, a typical french restaurant at Rue des Francs Bourgeois which a friend of my mom recommended to us. The food was delicious and the staff was so nice!! Definitely worth a try when you're in Paris and are looking for some typical french dishes like ratatouille or steak tartare! I was not disappointed!
